The presentation is on remote operation, with Tom W3EX. Melody and Jane will be accepting money for the PAARC picnic on Sept. 10th.
Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we run nets from locations other than our shack.
This year we’ll be running both the Magicians Net and the AM Mini Boat Anchor Net from high atop the Hopewell Fire Tower at French Creek State Park. We’ll be testing out new antennas that a few of our members recently purchased specifically for 6 meters. The antenna is called the OA-50, an omni directional antenna model made by Par Electronics. From initial tests, this thing really works. Let us know what you think.
Rigs & Antennas: The Magicians Net will be running a Yaesu FT-991, and the AM Mini Boat An
chor Net will run a Gonset (Gooney) G-50 for the AM portion of the net. Both stations will be sharing a Par Electronics OA-50 Omni Angle Antenna.
Times: We will start taking check-ins for the Magician’s Net at 8pm this coming Wednesday, August 31st rather than our regularly scheduled time of 8:30pm. Thank you Ed/K3BVQ for your support! The AM Mini-Boat Anchor Net will start at its usual time 9pm.
The next PAARC foxhunt will be on Sat., Aug. 27, at 9:30 am. Jim/K3CHJ will be the fox. Fox Hunt calling frequency: 147.510 FM.
The start will be at the Pottsgrove Middle School on 1351 N. Hanover St., Pottstown 19464. N 40 deg., 16.27 min, W 75 deg., 38.15 min. If anyone needs to borrow equipment contact Jim K3CHJ. He has a log periodic antenna, passive and active attenuators, a boat anchor 2M radio with an analog S meter plus a PennDot map.
PAARC will be an exhibitor at the Montgomery County 4H Fair once again. Ed McCoy/N3WXW is setting up the K3ZMC demo station to introduce amateur radio to the large number of people, young and old, at the fair. Join us to operate, or come out to see the fair and stop by to say hello. If you’d like to be a radio operator for either day please email Ed McCoy/N3WXW. Ed will be onsite about 8 am on both Fri. and Sat. The club will demo 20M and 40M phone. Jerry/WA2TTI will have a second demo station. The 4-H Center is located at 1015 Bridge Road, Creamery PA 19426.

PAARC will offer an amateur radio license exam session on Friday, Aug. 5, at 5:00 pm at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Rd., (intersection of Swamp Pike & Kugler Rd.) Limerick, PA 19468. Go for your license or try for an upgrade. Pre-register for the test by sending an email request to VETesting@PAARC.NET. All test sessions administered by examiners accredited by the ARRL.
