Club Gathering – Aug. 5th

Our next gathering is Fri., Aug. 5th at 7:00 pm, at St. James Lutheran Church, Kugler Rd. and Swamp Pike in Limerick. This is not a formal meeting, but a summer social gathering. Members, friends, and prospective hams are invited to join us. Enjoy root beer floats generously donated by Bill/W3FRB and Jane/KC3FSR.

Fox Hunt – July 16th

Our next PAARC fox hunt will be on July 16th at 9:30 am.

We’ll start at the Pottsgrove Middle School on 1351 N. Valley Forge Hamfest – July 9th

The 2016 Valley Forge MARC Hamfest will be held on Sat., July 9th at the Kimberton Fire Company grounds, Route 113 (742 Pike Springs Road) south of the intersection with Route 23 in Kimberton, PA. The MARC Hamfest announcement can be downloaded here. Amateur Radio License Exams

PAARC will offer an Amateur Radio License testing sessions before the first Friday monthly meetings on June 3, Aug. 5, Sept. 2, and Oct. 7, 2016 at 5:00 pm. The location for the test is the same place as the meetings:  St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Rd., (intersection of Swamp Pike & Kugler Rd.) Limerick, PA 19468. Pre-register for the test by sending an email request to VETesting@PAARC.NET.  Note that dates and times are subject to change.  All test sessions administered by examiners accredited by The American Radio Relay League, Inc.  On July 1, 2016 a new Element 4 Extra class question pool will take effect for examinations.

What to Bring to an Exam Session:
– Two forms of ID, or 1 photo ID
– Test fee of $15.00
– If upgrading, your current license and a copy (we cannot make copies at the session), and any current valid CSCE’s (original and one copy)
– Two or more pencils
– Calculator, if desired

13 Colonies Special Event – July 1 to 6

This Years Event Dates / July 1 (9AM EST) to July 6th (Midnight EST)
(July 1, 2016-1300 UTC to July 7, 2016-0400 UTC)

PAARC members had so much fun participating in the 13 Colonies Special Event in past years, that a few wanted to get more involved. This year some members will operate special event station WM3PEN for part of the time during this 6 day event. If you plan to participate and work colony stations, you’re encouraged to spot it for others at DX Summit. In 2015, over 126,000 total contacts were made in this event.
