Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship, Service, and Amateur Radio

Join the Pottstown Area Amateur Radio Club as we celebrate 50 years of organized amateur radio in the Pottstown area. Throughout the week, club members will operate K3ZMCfrom home, portable, and club stations to commemorate the club’s history, honor its founders, and share the excitement of amateur radio with operators around the world. The celebration begins with a kickoff picnic and continues with seven days of on-the-air activity across multiple bands and modes. We invite everyone to join us in celebrating the friendships, service, and spirit of amateur radio that have defined PAARC for more than five decades. Please consider volunteering to work the airwaves as K3ZMC for PAARC. More to come!

ANNIVERSARY PICNIC – Saturday, Sept. 19th
12 pm to 4 pm – Ironstone Park, Boyertown

Join us for a special day to celebrate that’s filled with fun, food, and fellowship at at Ironstone Park in Boyertown on Saturday, Sept. 19. Members and friends are welcome to bring the family. Reserve your spot by Sept. 16, by paying at the Sept. 4th meeting, or at the event. RSVP is suggested by sending a note to secretary at paarc dot net. Be sure to include your callsign.  
$10 per person for adults,  $7 for children under 14.

PAARC applied to be a PAQP Bonus Station
Our president, Walt KB3SBC, has filed for PAARC to be a bonus station in the PA QSO Party on October 10 & 11, 2026 as K3ZMC. If the club is approved we will need operators to work this event. Stay tuned. 
 

Sept 24 – Reading Radio Special Event Station W3BN

The Reading Radio Club will celebrate their 100th anniversary with their W3BN Special Event station on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2022 from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. There will be a beautiful keepsake certificate to commemorate your QSO with them. Details to come. 

As part of this celebration, VHF operators will activate the Reading Pagoda between 1 pm and 2 pm on simplex frequency 146.550 MHz to give local hams an opportunity to get on the log.  More to come!

Field Day on June 26 & 27

PAARC welcomes members to our private Field Day event at Welkinweir beginning at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 26, and ending at noon on Sunday, June 27.  Sorry, but this event is not open to the public.

Members will need to sign Welkinweir’s COVID-19 waiver at the sign-in table in order to visit or operate. Our event call is W3U,  and the GOTA station will be K3ZMC. There will be a refreshments table in the pavilion.

We expect our classification to be 3A. The following operators will have stations set up for the duration: K3TWL, WA3LAB (CW), and KE3KQ. We anticipate a visit from K0BAK with a VHF 6 station.

The GOTA (Get On The Air) station is available for new hams and those who may not have operated in awhile. Coaching is available from K3AFV.

Fly-In Breakfast – Sept. 10

Join PAARC members at the Fly-in Breakfast on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017 from 8 am to 12 noon at Heritage Field.  Admission and parking is free. If you come hungry breakfast is $8 for adults and $5 for kids (pancakes, eggs, ham, juice and coffee).  See modern and antique airplanes, warbirds, show cars and R/C models and drones.  Airplane and helicopter rides!  A great morning out for the family!  The entrance to Flyer’s Roost is located on Airport Road off Ridge Pike in Limerick, PA. For more information on the event, visit www.paop.org, or click here for the flyerPAARC members RC, KC3HRV and his dad Paul, KC3HSQ will represent PAARC with a station.
