We welcome members and friends to join us on Friday, Sept. 5th for SKYWARN training at 7:00 pm, with Lou Ruh, WX3I. We meet at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Rd. (Swamp Pike and Kugler Rd.) in Limerick, PA. This training will empower you to become a weather spotter for the National Weather Service. Refreshments will be served.

Topics include: Factors affecting transmission and reception of MW (AM) and FM signals, directional AM transmitting antenna configurations, coverage maps and signal contours, FCC classes of AM and FM stations, clear channel stations, AM DX receivers, indoor AM receiving antennas, outdoor receiving antennas and broadcast antenna farms (including Roxborough), and atmospheric factors affecting reception. It will also cover FM translators, repeaters, boosters and Low-Power FM (LPFM), and playback of 1960’s top 40 radio jingles and samples of DJ radio shows (airchecks) and operational information on WRDV-FM radio station based in Hatboro. All are welcome.
