At the 1/5/18 meeting we had a delightful presentation by Richard “Dick” Stewart/K3ITH on his private railroad car and some of his charters. Many hams know Dick as a fellow Rooster, and for his work with PARA (Phila. Area Repeater Assoc.). Given that many hams are train buffs we had a strong turnout of members despite the freezing weather. Dick bought the Francis L. Sutter Pennsylvania RR car two years ago and he and his XYL Cathy have been their own custom touches. This Amtrak certified 1914 Pullman heavyweight business car includes a lounge with originally installed working wood burning fire place, bedrooms, dining room, and full kitchen. It may be connected to almost any Amtrak passenger train and travel up to 110 MPH in the U.S. and Canada. Dick and his family have enjoyed trips all over the country. He also offers charter trips!
