June 25 – 26 PAARC Field Day

PAARC Members: You, your family and guests are invited to the club’s private field day event at Welkinweir. PAARC field day is not open to the public this year.

We will be classified as 4A, and operating as W3U. We hope to have a GOTA station on the air for some hours on Saturday. See our field day webpage for more information.

If you’re participating in field day from home and want to add your score to the club score, please fill out the ARRL form after the event and list PAARC as “Pottstown Area ARC” as your club.  Field Day entries must be postmarked or submitted via web app at field-day.arrl.org/fdentry.php by Tuesday, July 26, 2022.

2022 Field Day

Field Day on June 26 & 27

PAARC welcomes members to our private Field Day event at Welkinweir beginning at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 26, and ending at noon on Sunday, June 27.  Sorry, but this event is not open to the public.

Members will need to sign Welkinweir’s COVID-19 waiver at the sign-in table in order to visit or operate. Our event call is W3U,  and the GOTA station will be K3ZMC. There will be a refreshments table in the pavilion.

We expect our classification to be 3A. The following operators will have stations set up for the duration: K3TWL, WA3LAB (CW), and KE3KQ. We anticipate a visit from K0BAK with a VHF 6 station.

The GOTA (Get On The Air) station is available for new hams and those who may not have operated in awhile. Coaching is available from K3AFV.

Club Field Day – June 26 & 27

We have a location for PAARC’s ARRL Field Day 2021 once again at Welkinweir on June 26th and 27th. Due to the lingering pandemic this event is a members-only event. Our special event callsign is W3U. If we have a GOTA station it will be K3ZMC. Members will discuss field day at the June 4th meeting on Zoom. See the field day webpage here: https://www.paarc.net/field-day-2/

Welkinweir is a permanently preserved 224 acre rural property with a focus on ecological issues, sustainability, and land stewardship.  It is beautiful and on the top of a modest hill.  The property is closed on the weekends so our usage is likely to be one of few events happening on the property.

If you want to keep up on the plans for Field Day, there is a sub group on the PAARC groups.io forum specifically for Field Day so just join that subgroup.

ARRL rule changes from last year remain in effect with minor modifications (class D &E power limit) so club members have can work field day at Welkinweir or participate from home according to the ARRL classifications from last year.
