Equipment in the N4XU current shack consists of: K3DBD
K3DBD, continually licensed since 1957. HF equipment is an
ICOM IC-746 ![]() K3CHJ 1960 Equipment – National NC 173 Receiver and Heathkit DX 100B Transmitter, RME DB23A Preselector, Heathkit VTVM and 100 watt incandescent light bulb dummy load. Antennas were 40 & 80 meter dipoles and a 3 Element 10 meter Beam.
K3CHJ – 2009 Equipment – IC-746 Pro, Kenwood TL 922 HFLinear, Heathkit SB 220 HF Linear, Kenwood TM 701A 2m/440 (also used for fox hunts), Vibroplex Presentation Model Bug (used only to tune up). Antennas are 40 & 80 meter dipoles, Mosely Classic 36 triband beam, 11 element 2m beam & a 2m Ringo Ranger. I had a Diamond X-50 2m/440 vertical on top of my 50 ft. tower which was completely vaporized by 2nd direct lightning hit (previous X-50 was only partially vaporized by original direct hit). W3BNR
